What were your ambitions when you were young, and what are they now?

When I was 7 years old, I declared I wanted to be a New York Times Best Selling Author. I didn't know for sure what that meant. All I knew was all my favorite authors had been featured there.

Now, my aspirations surpass what I originally wanted to be. I dream of being a prolific, international bestseller, as well as continue to grow my coaching for writers to the point that they become bestsellers themselves. I plan to be THE person you go to for getting your writing done so you can share your story, your expertise, or your mission.

And as I celebrate 10 years in business, I realize my ambitions have changed in a major way. Being an NYT Best Seller was a self-serving goal. However, I intend to bring love, laughter, and happiness to the world through my words. Totally better ambitions, ya know.

In what ways do you support your personal development?

I am an avid believer in meditation/visualization, exercise, downtime, and therapy. Meditation/visualization keeps my mind in check. Exercise helps keep my body in check. Downtime keeps my patience in check. And therapy helps keep my bipolar in check. I also read A LOT. While it does help me professionally, sometimes I want to lose myself in a book.

Sidenote: I believe in therapy for everyone, not just for those who suffer from mental illness.

Who is a mentor that has changed your life?

A mentor that has changed my life is my business coach, Karin Roest aka the A-lister's best-kept secret. I came across Karin through a Facebook ad. The video was so my style of goofiness that I had to schedule a call with her. On the call, we talked about my goals and aspirations. Karin gave me a lot of advice, more so than anyone had ever done on a "free call". And at the end of that call, she didn't sell me anything. So, when the opportunity came to work with Karin, I jumped on it and she's been my mentor ever since.

The best way to describe how Karin has changed my life is by saying this: I have made more money in the past year, than the 9 years prior combined. She's such a beautiful soul with 20 years experience who is tough on me but consistently encouraging.

I encourage you to get a mentor with these qualities.
