Spotlight on Rachel Strauss

Meet Rachel Strauss: Global Entrepreneurship Advocate driven by purpose and the Diamond Challenge Program Coordinator.

Tell us about Diamond Challenge!

The Diamond Challenge is an international entrepreneurship competition for high school students, powered by University of Delaware Horn Entrepreneurship. Our rooted purpose is to empower the next generation of world changers to design a world they want to live in.

Who has inspired you most on your entrepreneurial journey?

I am constantly inspired by the students, staff, and community I consistently engage with through Horn Entrepreneurship because they are all intrinsically motivated to leave a lasting, meaningful mark on the world, and they're also driven to support others in their "purpose discovery". Most recently, I am inspired by Matt Stadtmauer, Founder of Washé.

Who is a mentor that has changed your life? How and why?

I worked closely with a Bank of America executive focused on leadership development during my time with a nonprofit organization. He mapped out a framework on a piece of paper and probed, "What are your battles and what is your WAR?". Although an extremely simple concept, it put things in to perspective on a global scale instantaneously. I still have the piece of paper mapping out the analogy to this day, and it's a great way to consciously and truthfully reflect on current initiatives.
