About American Media Fellowship:
The United States is more divided and isolated along lines of difference than ever before. This very isolation has become breeding ground for hatred, prejudice, and discrimination. Exposure has been proven to unravel biases and oversimplifications about other identities and narratives. We are supporting 6 filmmakers from communities most adversely affected by prejudice to tell a story that dispels the stereotypes about them. They have turned a school bus into a mobile studio with state of the art technology that can travel to any of the communities of focus to include the voices of those who have systematically been forgotten.
It has never been more important to leverage the power of media and storytelling to bridge the empathy chasm that exists along lines of difference.
Applications are open for the American Media Fellowship and are seeking 6 fellows who will be invited to tell the story of their communities in order to help scale back hatred and prejudice in America. Each fellow will receive:
All expenses paid
Distribution opportunities and intensive mentorship
The fellowship takes place in several communities of focus across the country and includes mentorship, production support, distribution partners, and a stipend to tell the most impactful story. Applicants choose amongst 6 different fellowships to apply for:
LGBTQ + Fellowship
African American Fellowship
Latin American Fellowship
First Nation Fellowship
Asian American Fellowship
