1. Software Developer

We are looking for a solid software engineer with experience developing single page, serverless web apps using Node. Our existing systems and current development uses AWS, so while not required, AWS experience is a big plus. This is a full-time remote position, with some limited travel. The candidate is expected to have previous remote experience or feel confident in their ability to supply the appropriate work environment, including a sufficient internet connection, appropriate workspace, and other typical remote/home office needs. We expect availability during most of the typical work day in US time zones. This is a contract-to-hire position. The start date is ASAP.

Ideal Candidate Will Have: 
- Bachelors or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field OR experience and training equivalent to a degree
- 8+ years of software development experience
- Very Good English Language skills: writing and speaking
- Node JS: extensive experience
- Single Page Web App development: HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, etc
- Some experience in several modern programming languages

2. DevOps Engineer

We are looking for an experienced DevOps professional to take responsibility for existing operational challenges, improve existing processes, and craft entirely new solutions for automation and other development processes in our organization. Our current systems architecture is deployed across the AWS ecosystem, so previous experience with AWS and interest in continuing there is important. We expect our DevOps Engineer to write code, scripts, and generally contribute to discussion and planning regarding architecture and operations. This is a full-time remote position, with some limited travel. The candidate is expected to have previous remote experience or feel confident in their ability to supply the appropriate work environment, including a sufficient internet connection, appropriate workspace, and other typical remote/home office needs. This is a contract-to-hire position. The start date is ASAP.

Must Have: 
- Applicable College Degree or requisite experience in DevOps
- Experience in developing automated deployment processes and writing working code

3. Lead Hardware Engineer

We are seeking an electrical or mechatronic engineer to lead the development of remote sensors and other field devices. The lead hardware engineer will be a key player in the overall product development process. We’re a distributed company with team members spanning the globe, but hardware development is being conducted in the Boston Metro-West area. This is a full-time remote position, with some limited travel. The candidate is expected to have previous remote experience or feel confident in their ability to supply the appropriate work environment, including a sufficient internet connection, appropriate workspace, and other typical remote/home office needs. This is a contract-to-hire position. The start date is ASAP.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and modify remote sensors, including low power wide area network communications component
- Technical support for operation and deployment of remote sensors
- Plan, prepare, and execute prototype field tests and collect data
- Document designs and test data
- Be an active leader and contributor to the product development team
- Develop products for rugged environments and untrained operators

Technical Skills and Qualifications
- Advanced understanding of electronics and mechanical systems
- Expertise in digital and analog signal processing and control systems
- Familiarity with physical user interfaces (e.g., switches, keypads, LED displays, etc.) 
- Experience programming embedded microprocessors and microcontrollers
- Experience designing printed circuit boards
- Experience with basic mechanical design, including housings, connectors, and thermal considerations
- Ability to create and document design plans (blueprints, schematics, etc.) and communicate clearly
- Experience with RF hardware and software design (e.g., cables, connectors, amplifiers, filters, correlators, etc.) is desirable
- Familiarity with Internet of Things communication protocols is desirable
- User-based product design (e.g., ease, robustness, appeal) is a plus
- Experience with power electronics, motors, and other hardware a plus

4. Finance Manager

We are looking for a Mid-Level Finance Manager dedicated to financial management and accounting, reporting to the Director of Operations. This role goes far beyond maintaining spreadsheets. It’s about budgeting and forecasting, maintaining compliance with our policies and our donors’ regulations, financial analysis, and project billing and receivables. This is a full-time remote position, with some limited travel. The candidate is expected to have previous remote experience or feel confident in their ability to supply the appropriate work environment, including a sufficient internet connection, appropriate workspace, and other typical remote/home office needs. This is a contract-to-hire position. The start date is ASAP.

Responsibilities: 
• Manage systems to create an effective financial dashboard, which will yield predictive data for forecasting and budgeting
• Analyze spend and identify opportunities for cost savings
• Maintain master budget, including actuals, variances, and forecasted expenses
• Manage and continually update monthly burn rate and runway analysis
• Prepare budgets and financial reports for donors, investors, and executive management team, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
• Manage end-of-year accounting process, both for the business and for contracts with funders

• Ability to manage multiple finance responsibilities with great attention to detail, while delivering results on schedule
• Top-notch Excel skills, ability to graphically display financial information, and fluency in QuickBooks; experience with other accounting, bookkeeping, payments and payroll software is an asset

5. Senior Business Development Executive 

We are looking for a Senior Business Development Executive to lead the full lifecycle of new business opportunities at Hala. This is a full-time remote position, with some limited travel. Responsibilities:

• Drive revenue and customer engagement - build awareness, develop pipeline, close contracts, retain customers
• Lead the formulation and implementation of business development strategies
• Prepare strong presentations and financial models (e.g., pricing analyses) underpinning strategy and pitches for internal debate and external sales efforts
• Create and maintain an accurate and robust pipeline of accounts, proposals, and pitches oversee maintenance of company CRM
• Forecast the closing of business opportunities within specific time periods
• Develop business cases to support the adoption of Hala’s technology
