About Conrad Challenge:

There are historically two fundamental ways to think: inside the box and outside the box. At the Conrad Challenge we encourage students to enjoy the freedom of thinking like there simply is no box. To Get Your Genius On, there should be no box.

The Conrad Challenge is an annual, multi-phase innovation and entrepreneurship competition that encourages young adults to participate in designing the future. Each year, teams of 2-5 students, ages 13-18, from around the world create products and/or services to address some of the most pressing global and local challenges. They become entrepreneurial problem-solvers, addressing challenging social, scientific and societal issues through utilizing their creativity and critical-thinking skills.

The Opportunity:

The 2019-2020 Conrad Challenge has officially launched inviting students to creating innovative solutions to real-world challenges, while preparing for success in a global workplace. The competition encourages creativity, critical thinking and entrepreneurial collaboration among teams around the globe. As students advance through 3 rounds of the competition, they are connected with subject matter experts and resources to advance their innovations, ultimately creating a commercially-viable product.

Students collaborate within a team of 2-5 members (ages 13-18) to develop solutions to global challenges in any of the following categories: Aerospace & Aviation, Cyber-Technology & Security, Energy & Environment and Health & Nutrition. The 2019-2020 Conrad Challenge is hosting additional categories, Transforming Education Through Technology and two Smoke-Free World categories.

Registration and Investor pitches are due Friday, November 1 at 11:59 pm ET. Teams will be notified of their acceptance into Round 2 no later than Friday, November 15 and will submit their Business Plan by Friday, January 3, 2020. Finalists will be announced on Friday, February 21 and be invited to the Innovation Summit (April 21-24, 2020) at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida. During the Innovation Summit, Finalists compete for the opportunity to be recognized as Pete Conrad Scholars and are awarded scholarships, patent support, business services and other prizes/awards from sponsors.
