The Arena Football League is seeking a Communications Intern, for the Spring Semester from February through May, who will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of League communications efforts. The communications intern will work directly alongside the Director of Communications. The ideal candidate has interest and experience in athletic communications, public relations, media relations, digital and social media.
Please note this role will be located in Philadelphia, PA, and applicants are expected to be able to work in this location.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with game notes, press releases, distribution lists, media guides, digital archiving, media requests, news clippings and other duties as assigned by the Director of Communications and other members of the League staff. Preference will be given to applicants with experience working in sports communications or public relations, and and with experience using the Adobe Creative Suite.
Must currently be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program, and receive academic credit hours. Seeking a degree in sports management, journalism, communications or other related fields is preferred.
Qualifications & Skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a timely manner
Operate as a team player
Must have strong writing and communication skills
Knowledge of basic public relations/media relations practices
Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, specifically InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator is strongly preferred
Social Media management knowledge/experience
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Organized, thorough, and detail-oriented
Excellent time management and interpersonal skills
Football knowledge is preferred, but not required
